Brief Strategic Family Therapy (BSFT)
Brief Strategic Family Therapy is designed to prevent, reduce, and/or treat youth behavior problems and improve family functioning, including effective parental leadership and involvement with the youth. BSFT is intended for children and adolescents between the ages of 6 and 17, who are displaying or are at-risk for developing behavior problems, including substance abuse, conduct problems and delinquency. BSFT has been implemented as a prevention, early intervention and intervention strategy for adolescents who are delinquent and substance-abusing.
The Institute helps to facilitate implementation of BSFT and provide utilization, fidelity and outcome data to stakeholders. In January 2012, The Institute began working with the three BSFT providers in Maryland to develop a data reporting mechanism to be able to share with stakeholders, BSFT utilization, fidelity and outcomes. Quarterly reporting will begin in 2013.
