Expertise:Promotion of Mental Health and Prevention of Mental Disorders in Adolescents, Impact of Social and Environmental Factors on Mental Health, Program Evaluation, School and Community-based Mental Health Interventions
Bio: Dr. Rose is a Research Assistant Professor at The University of Maryland School of Social Work. She serves as the Lead Evaluator on the LIFT, MD CARES, and Rural CARES projects, for the Institute. Her research interests include the pathways through which external developmental assets promote better mental health outcomes among Black adolescents and how these outcomes are conceptualized and measured. She is also interested in the design, implementation, effectiveness, and cultural relevance of evidenced based mental health interventions in school settings. Previously, Dr. Rose has worked as a visiting scientist with SAMHSA, as part of school reform efforts in New York City, and with adolescents in child welfare, community, mental health, and education settings. She graduated from the State University of New York, Stony Brook with a Master of Social Work, and from Catholic University of America with a Ph.D.
