COVID-19 Resources for Children’s Services
Managing Now for a Better Tomorrow Addressing Equity During COVID-19
We at The Institute are thrilled that, through the passing of the American Rescue Act, the U.S. government has taken a significant step to address child poverty, a complex issue resulting from centuries of inequitable policies, oppression, and lack of prioritization of children and families. The Child Tax Credit will help to eradicate child poverty by lifting some of the most severe economic burden from caregivers who are struggling financially, particularly with as a result of COVID-19. It has the potential to cut child poverty in half, perhaps more in some communities. Other parts of this legislation strengthen health care delivery and financing for children, youth, young adults, and their families; these policy tools can make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families. Read more: American Rescue Plan.
We recognize this is a challenging time for all of us in children’s services across the country; most especially for the families and youth we serve. To support you in developing your own response to COVID-19 for your team and your community, we are convening a series of conversations and disseminating helpful resources. Together we are stronger in creating forward-looking solutions to meet the challenges of today while building a brighter tomorrow.
