The Parent, Infant, and Early Childhood (PIEC) Web Portal (Formerly the Child Health and Prevention Web Portal) is a collection of early childhood web-based tools and resources developed by The Institute for Innovation & Implementation. This suite of tools was developed with numerous collaborative partnerships in order to strengthen and support early childhood programs across the state of Maryland and nationwide.
The Teaching Pyramid Model for Supporting Social and Emotional Competence is a conceptual framework of evidence-based practices for children birth through five and their caregivers developed by two national, federally-funded research and training centers. In Maryland, SEFEL is being implemented in a variety of early childhood settings, including early care and education and elementary schools, through a multi-agency effort led by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) Division of Early Childhood Development. The SEFEL Website provides easy access to an extensive online library of SEFEL resources for families, teachers & caregivers, and trainers & coaches.
The Outcome Monitoring Systems (OMS) Web Suite is a collection of web-based data entry and tracking systems designed to
provide ongoing monitoring and evaluation which strengthens early childhood implementation efforts,
drives the improvement of outcomes for those served, and may help to secure additional funding for these vital programs
that intend to enhance professional development for early care and education (ECE) staff and improve children's social and emotional development and school readiness.
The Early Identification of Risk (EIR) Data Collection Tool is a secure web-based portal used to collect and analyze the measurement data and corresponding demographic information needed to support the Working Group on Early Identification of Risk. The current project to evaluate risk in children of parents with a history of childhood trauma formed around the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) study.
As part of a statewide effort, Maryland's early childhood community is strengthening family engagement in both early care and educational settings. The Family Engagement in Early Childhood Website was created as a collaboration between the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) Division of Early Childhood Development, The Institute for Innovation & Implementation at The University of Maryland School of Social Work, Ready At Five, and Ready to Connect. The website helps support the shared commitment between families, programs, providers, schools, and communities to work together to support family well-being, strong parent-child relationships, and the ongoing learning and development of children and parents.
