Clinical Associate Professor
Frederick H. Strieder, PhD, MSSA Clinical Associate Professor Emeritus at the University of Maryland School of Social Work (SSW) is the retired Director of Family Connections at Baltimore and Clinical Director the SSW Social Work Outreach Services, Social Work Community Outreach Service programs dedicated to promoting safety, health, and well-being for children, families, and communities through community and clinical services, research, education, and advocacy. Over the past forty years he has provided mental health and child welfare services as a practitioner, supervisor and administrator. This included serving as a committee chair and board member on local, regional, and national levels regarding the development of outcome evaluation strategies, program development specific to treatment foster and trauma responsive services. He has conducted extensive consultation, supervision, and training in the practice of trauma responsive family therapy. Expertise centers on developing best practice models for children and families who have experienced trauma, specifically complex developmental trauma that incorporates evidence based strategies. He has participated in numerous federal and state funded grants that included research about community-based family service models addressing trauma and grandparent-headed households. National and international presentations and articles, manuals and reports have focused on the impact of trauma on individuals and families and grandparents raising grandchildren.
